Details? The way its shape changes suggests to me that this is some sort of higher-dimensional shape represented by its cross-section in 3D.
I don't think it ever folds. I think it only rotates around a fourth dimensional axis. Not sure though.

This reminds me of when I broke through on salvia and my entire universe was being swallowed up by a colossal music box type machine and things got even weirder from there.
