We cut the wood to size with a table saw and then use a belt sander to shape. We sand starting at 100 grit by hand and move up all the way to 2000. They're finished with a bit of caranuba wax and Tried and True oil to seal. My Master is a genius with wood toys and he's taught us so much. We all help and I love the cutting and shaping process!
What kind of wood is the purple ones?!? That’s awesome
holy shit i never knew i needed a purpleheart paddle in my life but now I do
How resilient are they? Do you guys sell them?
I'm interested in the purple heart stick/cane at the top of the photo. Also, RIP to the persons wrist and hands who whittled that beast.
Purple heart is an amazing wood. Natural beauty and is damn near indestructible. However, I've noticed with my peices any impact with skin breaking, it's impossible to get blood out without sanding it down. Even before play if the wood is heavily coated in wax, blood sticks to this wood like varnish. ;-)
