So here's the deal with your title: I don't think this is a Fibonacci spiral. http://i.imgur.com/2viBfok.jpg I know it's easy to find the golden ratio in nature, but not every spiral in nature is a Fibonacci spiral. I'm pretty sure not a lot of them are. What we have here though is a plant with 5 spirals, and 5 is very much so a Fibonacci number. And for me, that was the point of ViHart's video. You don't actually find the spiral in nature, but you find the numbers 5,8,13,etc in nature's spirals. /end of nitpicking
