I'll have to find the picture of him, but we had a patient, 916. We dubbed him the 7.5 million dollar man because that's how much we spent trying to save his life. Since I had done most of his surgeries since I had arrived in country, I became invested in his health. As a surgical tech, I normally don't see my patients post op. But in Iraq, he was like 20 steps from the OR and I stopped in one day. He was alert and talking and had his sister in law translating as we all asked about him. He recognized me from taking him back to surgery so many times and welcomed me and introduced me to his wife and children. Then introduced me to his sister in law. He said I could have her if I promised to take her out of Iraq and to somewhere safe. (Let me look through my pics tonight and see if I can find it. It was 10 years and 4 computers ago.)
