I'm really overweight and I use my old school gym shorts as underwear too. They're a lot roomier than any clothes I can find in the actual underwear section in Asda, and my balls don't get nearly as sticky and sweaty. Best, though, is buying women's leggings and cutting them mid-thigh - they're tight, but that means they wrap around my flabby legs and stop them rubbing together - no more sore rashes for me! I know you can get lycra cycling shorts, but just for basic underwear, they're not worth the £40 quid when you can buy leggings for £3.
