Born in Vancouver to parents who migrated from Denmark, she was working as a junior accountant at a local radio station when a Playboy scout saw her win a bikini contest. Aged 19 when she became Miss July 1981, the 36C (natural)-24-34 beauty continued to pose for additional pictorials well into her thirties. She lived for four years at the Playboy Mansion. In 1980 she had the terrible task of breaking news of Dortothy Stratten's murder to Hugh Hefner. A leading member of the Singing Playmates, Miss Sorenson also enjoyed writing poetry and painting. Married with one daughter, the family lived in southern California for over twenty years before she retuned to Vancouver. An actress and screenwriter, she authored a book about her 1997 battle with breast cancer. She qualified as a licensed counselor specializing in helping women recovering from breast cancer in Vancouver.
